How to maintain your Inlandsis equipment
Regularly washing your canicross, bikejoring, or sledding equipment helps keep it in good condition longer and extends its lifespan. Here are our recommendations by equipment category.
Are your dogs' harnesses dirty after training in mud or dust? Has your canicross or bikejoring leash dragged on the ground? Inlandsis products are designed to last even with intensive use. Taking care of them and maintaining them will still help extend their lifespan.
Washing Equipment: Basic Principles
All our fabric or strap products (harnesses, leashes, belts, leads, booties, clothing) are machine washable on a short cycle in cold water or at 30°C.
For products with metal parts (tightening buckles, snaps, carabiners), wash them with textiles to avoid damaging your washing machine drum.
Our metal products (carabiners, bikejoring bars) should be washed only by hand, with a water jet, or with a sponge or damp cloth.
When a little equipment wash is needed...
Things to Know:
Booties are generally washed in large numbers and all have Velcro. Remember to fasten the Velcro so they don't stick to other textiles and damage them during washing. You can also use a laundry net.
How to Dry My Equipment After Washing?
We primarily use synthetic fibers that absorb little water and dry quickly.
Simply hang your equipment on a clothesline or drying rack in a well-ventilated area. Avoid placing your equipment in the sun or near a significant heat source (radiator, wood stove).
Our metal parts are not afraid of water. However, you can wipe them with a cloth for a perfect finish. For carabiners and snaps, you can apply a few drops of lubricant or WD-40 in the mechanisms to prevent them from seizing. Wipe off any excess.
Where to Store Your Equipment?
Store your equipment out of the sun (especially harnesses, leashes, and belts) to protect them from UV rays that degrade straps and colors.
Our equipment is not afraid of water, but persistent humidity can promote the appearance of unpleasant odors.
Avoid airtight containers so that your equipment is always ventilated. A plastic box WITHOUT a lid can be perfectly suitable.
If your equipment is frozen or wet, dry it before storing it.
