Is my dog's harness the right size? A recurring question that is important to ask yourself so that your dog can pull with maximum comfort.

Always use a pulling harness, not a walking harness

To engage in a pulling sport with your dog (canicross, cani-hiking, bikejoring, sledding, and carriage), it is essential to use a pulling harness so that your dog can deliver all their power without getting hurt. Short walking harnesses are not designed for this.

How to put on a pulling harness for a dog?

  1. Fold the harness as shown in the video
  2. Stand over the dog to hold them in place
  3. Put the harness over the head
  4. Put the front legs through
  5. Pull the harness under the rib cage to fit it correctly

How to check if the harness is the right size?

A pulling harness fits correctly only when it is well-tensioned.

Evaluation protocol:

• The dog is attached with a leash to a fixed point, at a height of about 80 cm • The dog puts all his weight into the harness: all the straps, including the X on the back, are well-tensioned.
